Artist Bio & Contact

Growing up in Westchester County, NY in a home in with a mother who had a creative spirit. Stacey has always had creativity shooting through her body at a young age.  Creativity was all around Stacey growing up. Her mother knew how to sew, paint and cook jams, jellies, pickles, maple syrup and  along with other types of food.  In our home we had relatives art work that were displayed on the walls throughout the house.
As a young child Stacey had the desire to be creative at a young age. Her exploration took her through a journey of exploring pottery, drawing, watercolor painting, collage, cooking, sewing, and into paper crafts that range from scrapbooking, card making, origami and into quilling. Paper has always been Stacey’s favorite medium to work with.  The nature of her work varies from time to time, but it almost always involves paper.  She now lives in East Greenbush, NY  where she creates most of work and teaches quilling classes in her free time up the street from where she lives throughout the year.

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quilling tool to create a basic coil shape. The paper is then glued at the tip and these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork.

Quilling and Zentangle 3d Purple Doll

The 3d doll took me 11 hours to create her. I started first with the skirt and zentangled with a Bic purple pen and created the pattern from ideas online. I sketched it out first in pencil then erased the pencil marks and went over it in pen. The zentangle part took three hours just for the Bic pen part. Then I built the body around the skirt. The arms took the longest and struggled with them. I never add faces to the dolls because I am afraid I will mess it up and have to start it over. Quilling paper was used for the body. I used manila file folders and shredded my own strips for the skin tone. I had feathers at home so I cut some pieces off and added to the hat. The doll was finished on July 30, 2013.

Latest creation of a quilled pink table with two heart shape chairs, with a tea set with forks and spoons, a cake, and a bouquet of flowers on top of the table. This took over 10 hours to create it.
